Khanpur Dam is located in Khanpur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Khanpur Dam is situated about 50 km from Islamabad. Khanpur Dam is a water reservoir for Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Khanpur Dam is a beautiful place to visit and every week about 40,000 to 50,000 tourists visit. The Blue-green water of the dam looks very beautiful and many people enjoy this crystal clear water.
To attract tourists on the dam they have arranged many fun activities like Cliff jumping, Jet skiing, Family boating, and Camping, etc. There are many good hotels which serve great food and atmosphere. The main favourite dish is fish.
Before the dam's construction, a village was here and some buildings are still visible. Like Rajgan Mosque which is over 100 years old. When the water level gets down some other buildings also become visible. Many old constructions can also be seen around Khanpur dam, as this place is located near Taxila so many Buddhist archaeological sites are located nearby. So tourists who visit these Buddhist archaeological sites must also visit Khanpur Dam to relax and spend some fun time here.
