The Indian palm squirrel or three-striped palm squirrel is a species of rodent and very common in Pakistan. They have adopted to live among the humans. You can see them in every park and even they are living in urban areas. They are very noisy, you hear them a lot but couldn't see them as they are hiding in a tree. Mostly they are living in groups.
They are mostly hopping on trees from branch to branch. If you are willing to see them closely then you have to sit quietly in some park, they come near you to pick food from ground. Even if you offer them peanut they come very close to you. They also sleep on tree branches.
One day I was sitting on my terrace taking sunbath, I saw some squirrels jumping on trees. They are very common here and I usually see them but I was amazed to see how do they travel in city environment. Squirrel was taking some unusual route besides tree branches, walls and roofs. Yes they were walking on electricity wires. They were maintaining balance on wire with tail and gripped the wire with their paws and crossed the street to reach on another tree.
After seeing this acrobatic skill of Indian palm squirrel I was much relieved. Because sometimes I am worried about the survival of wildlife living among us as they might extinct. But now I am a bit sure that there is some thing which can protect them. That thing is evolution, adopting the current conditions and survive. So survival instinct is very important factor for every living thing. But still we must give them proper space to increases their survival chances.
