Since the beginning of Steem journey I've been using steemit.com and busy.org to post and comment. As we step into new year, I wanted to try some Steem dApps hence I stumbled upon a desktop app - eSteem Surfer. I've been aware of eSteem mobile app but apprehensive to use mobile app since I'm not a big fan of mobile apps as far as security is concerned. Hence I didn't gave a try. Recently I got to know about eSteem Surfer which is a desktop app and I was curious to explore it.

Downloading the app is not a problem, it is available for almost all the variants of OS, be it mac or windows or linux. You can easily download it from here. Installation was also simple.
eSteem Surfer provides some of the features which makes it interesting and unique. I believe these features are available for mobile app already but since I have never used its mobile app I wasn't aware of these features.
First and foremost is the PIN for accessing, it is useful if we want to restrict others from accessing our account while sharing the laptop.
You can easily see your account value, post payout etc in your local currency(including BTC). In Steemit we can see only in USD, whereas here we can select currency through the settings.
If you select BTC then all the values are shown in BTC, likewise I changed it to INR and all the payout values were displayed in rupees. I believe this adds more value to the user experience of the platform when they see the earnings in their local currency than USD everytime.
I was missing this feature in steemit.com and busy.org though it is quiet common in Wordpress and other blogging platforms. I'm not sure when this will be added to steemit.com but glad that it is available in eSteem and patriko app. With this feature we can schedule our posts daily, helpful when we are planning to release articles as series. Weekly/Daily contests etc. I haven't used it in eSteem Surfer yet but will try in future.
The markdown editor is elegant. We can see word count and quick preview(side by side with sync scroll). Easily create tables in one-click. Creating tabular data in markdown is painful but this quick option makes it easy for simple tables, I hope this will be enhanced in future. We can save drafts and continue editing later.
I'm not a big fan for push notifications but if you like to keep yourself updated and aware of activities then eSteem Surfer provided notifications whenever someone upvote your post/comment, reply to your post etc. It also show the percentage with which it was upvoted.
To sum it up, the following features caught my attention and worth using eSteem Surfer desktop app.
I'd like to hear from other users about their experience with eSteem surfer.
PS: This post is published through eSteem Surfer app.
