Dear friends,
Just a week ago, when I first joined the Ecency app, I never imagined it wouldn't be just another ordinary social media app. Instead, it would be a place where my words, my writings, and my feelings truly belong to me. In today's post, I want to share with you the birth story of Ecency... learning about it has awakened a strange kind of emotion inside me.
Back in 2016, a visionary person named Feruz Muradov thought about building a mobile app. At that time, its name was eSteem. Work had started on the Steem blockchain. He wanted to create a platform where people could write freely, own their content, and get rewarded for good work, not under the control of any corporate company or hidden algorithm, but solely in the hands of the people.
Gradually, that small mobile app started to grow. The desktop app arrived in 2018. Then in 2020, when the Hive blockchain was born by forking from Steem, eSteem awakened in a brand new form under the name Ecency. With the name change, the dream grew even bigger. Today, Ecency is no longer just a mobile app—it offers the same experience across web, desktop, and mobile. It is open source, censorship-free, and most importantly, your account and posts live on the blockchain where no one can delete them.
Friends, when I was reading this story, it felt like someone was talking about my own dream. Many of us have often thought, "No one listens to me," or "My writings get lost somewhere"... but here, there is no such fear. Here you write, you vote, you build a community—you are the sole owner of everything. And when you provide good content, you also get crypto rewards.
In just one week, I have realized this is not just an app. This is a movement. A dream of a new social web where people are their own masters.
I request all of you to feel this story in your hearts just once. Then write something in your own way. Perhaps your writing might become an inspiration for someone else.
I am still learning. You should learn too. Let's move forward together.
Take care, everyone.
