Today I will show you a not so famous but quite interesting place in Romania - the Royal Palace in Bucharest. The former palace is located near the city center and can be reached in a few minutes. There we were greeted by the kind staff, who told us its story briefly.
King Carol II built this majestic palace as his residence. An interesting fact is that the building was built with many side entrances and secret exits so that his mistress could visit it in peace without being discovered.
Years later, Ceausescu himself refused to live in the palace, preferring the city's suburbs until his residence was built. And since 1950 the building of the museum houses the National Museum of Art. When visiting, you can choose only the part of the museum, the part of the preserved palace or both to combine history with art.
The tour of the palace itself does not last long, but only about 20 minutes. This is because many of the halls and rooms are closed to visitors. However, for the short time I guarantee you will be amazed.
From the very beginning you will find yourself in the hall where hundreds of important meetings and feasts have taken place.
The corridors and stairs themselves are also magnificent. The workmanship and details are truly stunning. The royal family certainly spared no expense in building the palace. And that is why today we can enjoy something so amazing.
And one of the things that impressed me a lot is the amazing ceiling that unfolds in front of you when you go up the stairs and look up. The picture is so amazing and detailed and I wonder how they achieved it so many years ago.
On the second floor you can enjoy the throne room and step on the place where the king himself stood. The hall is again huge and very majestic. There is also a great view outside. And above the throne itself, great paintings rise again on the ceiling.
Of course, there are also halls where you can learn more about the history of the royal family, its various members, as well as items that belonged to them. There were many beautiful portraits of the more famous and important members, and some had sculptures. The object that impressed me the most was the crown itself, which, like everything else in this palace, looked very majestic.
Unfortunately, we were not able to visit the part with the art museum because we did not have enough time. I am sure that it will also be quite interesting and there is something to see and learn. I highly recommend if you are in Bucharest to take half an hour and visit this great place.
