BRAUNER HIRSCH GÖRLITZ
Today I show some more results from last weekend. We spent Easter together with Erik, @marlasinger, Hans, Ramona,
@candelart, Geane,
@gunnarheilmann,
@stepko, Felix, Marlene and Ebs in Görlitz. After I had a good romp in the kitchen of the former medieval inn, I moved with the camera and the torches to the inner courtyard of the Brauner Hirsch. You can find the first post here: One More Night in Görlitz There you will also learn about the history of this unique building.
@candelart, Geane,
@gunnarheilmann,

In this light painting photograph I had first lit our model Marlene. I had attached a prism with a 77mm screw thread to the lens. Then I removed the prism, or rather, I tried to. The prism was glued on tightly. Together with Felix, we eventually managed to twist the prism off the lens. I held the lens with both hands and Felix used his bear strength to twist the prism off. I haven't the slightest idea why the thing was so tight. We had broken off the shot. I then screwed the prism onto the lens a few times and then loosened it again. Now it suddenly worked quite easily.
So let's start again from the beginning. In the second step, I illuminated the courtyard of the Brown Stag with the Emisar D4K. First behind Marlene and then a bit more with indirect light from the front. Apart from the incident with the prism, you can see the first attempt here.
Also nochmal von vorne.
Here you can see some of the prisms I used. In the meantime, they are available in many different variations. Some are rotatable. This allows you to move the light refraction exactly to the desired position and thus achieve a good symmetry. I have also experimented with combining several prisms. However, this is no longer quite so simple, to put it mildly.

And because Felix was standing next to us, I asked him if we wouldn't like to take a picture like that of him too. He liked the idea. The realisation was the same as with the first picture. Felix is a light painter himself. So he knew exactly how it works. Unfortunately, Felix is not (yet) here at HIVE. You can see his pictures on his homepage.
As always, the light painting photographs in this post were each taken in a single exposure and, apart from sharpening and denoising, were not processed on the computer. Everything that is visible in the picture was realised in front of the camera with moving light in real time.
This was not our first visit to the Brown Stag. Finally, I'll show you two pictures we took in the inner courtyard of the Brown Stag a few years ago. And that was certainly not our last visit to this unique location.
