I took these pictures when I was still in my province. The wind farm was located in Suclaran San Lorenzo Guimaras, a few kilometers away from my sister's and her husband's house. Since she was staying at home (she was also on vacation), she asked me if I wanted to go with them. I agreed and asked my brother-in-law if it was okay if we dropped by in the vicinity. Thankful he agreed, we left home a little late, so it was almost twilight when we reached the place. Plus, the main gate, which is the best area to see all the windmills, was closed due to renovation.
So we don't have a choice but to use the other entrance.
Yes, several windmills are still visible in our eyes, but it was hard to compress them in one photo; unless it was 360 degrees.
I felt a little regretful, yet as I stood there witnessing the sunset after a long time, calm my nerves. I've been busy for a while with city life, and I can no longer remember when was the last time I saw the sky turns orange, not until this day. As I scanned some of the pictures, I was amazed that I was able to capture a group of birds flying! Wow, have you seen it?
Standing below, it was scary as I could hear the whooshing sounds of revolving rotor blades as the air passed on it. I even thought, what if it would accidentally fall on me? I know each edge is big and heavy as I saw it when it was transported. If I remember it right, that was the year 2005, as I was in high school then.
These wind turbines were put up by a private investor Trans-Asia Renewable Energy Corp. (TAREC). The operation started last 2014, but it doesn't supply electricity here but for Negros, Western Visayas, and Cebu. It also became a tourist attraction as there are more than twenty pieces.
Also, the first windmill farm in the Western Visayas was approximately fourteen kilometers wide. Making it the biggest wind farm in Southeast Asia.
Each wind turbine stands 123 meters tall and generates two megawatts of power. Source
We stayed there for a while, enjoying the fantastic view. Sister and I took some photos together as a remembrance; after these, it would take years for us to see each other again ( she is working outside the country). We posed a lot, and she even insisted on giving me a piggyback ride as we used to when we were kids. I forgot to say earlier she was my older sister. I was hesitant to do so as she was so skinny while I was kinda chubby. I was afraid I might break her bones. Thus, after a series of negotiations and agreements. It was a brother-in-law who was holding the camera. We are both laughing as it feels like old times. Those childhood memories of when I felt so tired from walking and going to school. Then, as an older sister, she would offer to carry me.
I was expecting those moments to be captured, yet to our dismay, when I scanned the pictures at home, the attached photo was only the decent one. Yes, sadly. Sister got mad at her husband, but we could do nothing about it. Lesson learned, check the pictures first before leaving the place.
