So, work from home has become very legitimate as both working conditions or for career choices.
As a working arrangement, the remote setup has several pros in both regards - from employees saving on commute costs/time, to companies reducing operational expenses. But I also don't disagree with the idea of how everyone and their mothers seem like to work from home these days making for what feels like a saturated market, for the remote workforce. More jobs have become suited for remote work - be those a professional on data analytics or someone working in bookkeeping as a stay at home dad, it's a much competitive online environment.
The days of just "liking to work from home" will be replaced with ones where people must be proficient in several skills, develop strong resumes and experience; learn new computer skills along the process - more than that employers will expect and need to be able to trust.
And not because you want to the home working experience that your life has changed into, but just because.
I do not see nor predict a scenario where people are FORCED to return to their standard job in an office, simply because of increased competition with work from home arrangements. Rather, the more plausible forecast I can provide: is that the labor force will grow to an equal mix of options; those willing to require an in person role, ones open to a home working position to no better position to be there to begin with ; to a mixed method of in-office and working remote options available from business to business.
As to myself, work from home represents greater than a comfort - it has offered the chance for better personal lives for me to spend at time with family/friends / further education , whilst still having secure and prosperous careers.
It has afforded an occasion for many individuals such as myself to be exposed to potential employment by diverse backgrounds not need of relocation. It could get very competitive to land work from home jobs, but the increase in the field won't bring about the decrease or elimination in said field. I firmly believe working from home is a trend, but a lasting and promising career path as well.
