The biggest problem that has developed during the existence of society is issues surrounding the care and treatment of mental health problems. So much time and consideration are given by every person as to the state of their physical health and to the education and state of welfare etc of everyone and the world, but very little is mentioned about mental health and how every individual has problems involving its condition. At first, the problem would appear very slight as, even on the surface, people seem normal and are not visibly unhealthy but this outwardly appears deceiving as each individual carries within a load (or series of loads) of inner worries; stress, sadness, loneliness and/or other afflictions regarding their mental health.
One primary reason that mental health has become such a serious predicament is the pressure and stress that affects an individual during their lives, for students with studying exams and competition and adults with work or financial burdens etc together with the impact of family and friends also puts serious strain upon one's emotional welfare. Problems of a mental health nature may not appear a problem in other peoples'eyes but if not addressed they will likely cause severe and harmful complications with oneself both mentally and physically.
Another large issue is how the subject of mental health is still so badly perceived; people are ashamed and fearful of discussing how they feel when the fact is they might have issues surrounding mental health conditions and they must be taken seriously but when, instead, their concerns are met with either told not to worry, they 'must be strong'. This negative response just makes these people much more reluctant and scared to seek medical or professional help which in turn causes the problem only to increase its severity.
This means that mental health must be seen in the same regard as that of physical health because people should feel safe within schools and at their workplace and friends must listen and give support instead of mocking and also everyone should have efficient and readily available access to medical help if needed. I also strongly believe that a fundamental prerequisite in society, in relation to mental health problems, should be to learn that seeing help is not at all a sign of failure or weakness but the opposite and an act of strength and respect to ourselves.
Ultimately then, mental health is the biggest problem because it impacts everyone to great extent, and with reduction of shame attached to problems involving the mind it would be a much friendlier place.
