A Modern Ride, Cast in Shadow
Electric motorcycles have become an increasingly common sight around us, especially these modern models that are becoming popular in everyday transportation. While passing by one of them, I noticed the strong shadow it was casting on the pavement and thought it would make a good subject for the contest.
Las motos eléctricas se han convertido en una imagen cada vez más común a nuestro alrededor, especialmente estos modelos modernos que están ganando popularidad como medio de transporte cotidiano. Al pasar junto a una de ellas, noté la sombra marcada que proyectaba sobre el pavimento y pensé que podía ser un buen motivo para el concurso.
What caught my attention was how recognizable the motorcycle remained even as a shadow. The wheels, the body and the different parts of its structure were outlined by the sunlight, creating an almost graphic version of the real vehicle.
Lo que llamó mi atención fue lo reconocible que seguía siendo la moto aun convertida en sombra. Las ruedas, la carrocería y las diferentes partes de su estructura quedaban dibujadas por la luz del sol, creando casi una versión gráfica del vehículo real.
I liked the idea of photographing something so modern through something as simple and timeless as its shadow. The motorcycle itself represents a newer way of moving around, while its shadow is the same kind of shadow we could find beneath almost any object on a sunny day.
Me gustó la idea de fotografiar algo tan moderno a través de algo tan sencillo y atemporal como su sombra. La moto representa una forma más reciente de desplazarnos, mientras que su sombra es la misma clase de sombra que podemos encontrar debajo de casi cualquier objeto en un día soleado.
For me, that is part of the fun of participating in ShadowHunters. The subject does not always have to be unusual. Sometimes it is the light that changes the way we see something we might normally walk past without giving it much attention.
Para mí, esa es parte de la diversión de participar en ShadowHunters. El motivo no siempre tiene que ser algo extraordinario. A veces es la luz la que cambia nuestra manera de ver algo junto a lo que normalmente pasaríamos sin prestarle demasiada atención.
