I think it is because I mostly grew up in Europe,
Wish I was there now...🤔
In Texas (ugghhh) it is something else entirely!
In Germany I always lived pretty close to a bar though and had a few friends that owned them, helped out a few times as well.
In Europe it is a part of the social scene of the area, and a good thing I think.
The drinking part, like You with Me not much gets done... And if I get comfortable with it I can turn into a real lush...
Which I did not know to what extent till I stopped for awhile..
