A while back I posted about recycling the kitchen leftovers into new vegetable growth.

I took the leftover cabbage head and placed the stump in water, where upon it started to grow roots.

Now a few weeks on, it has a thick healthy net of roots. It was time to plant it into some soil where it could gain some extra minerals and have more stable base to take root in.

With the cabbage now in it's pot it reminds me of Audrey the carnivorous plant from the film "Little Shop of Horrors".

What do you think? Should I be scared? 馃榿

I'm determined to have an indoor cabbage farm, so I've started on a white cabbage also.

Cabbage are not the only plant the you can regrow from the kitchen waste. I also have a pineapple plant that I'm growing from the left over leafy crown I chopped off a pineapple. I also re-potted it today to give it more room to grow.

You can see in the above photo that the pineapple crown now has roots!

I'll keep experimenting until I run out of space in the apartment. In the meantime, the foraging season is beginning now that Spring has arrived.
