Hello everyone, this week we returned to the Dojo. Like every year, before returning to classes we have the habit of reconditioning the space to make it more pleasant for the students who train there. This Dojo is where I teach with my sensei Nicola Favia and on this occasion his son Maikol Favia accompanied us, who came from Colombia for Christmas.
Painting and maintenance work was carried out, we installed more lighting and now a stadium appears instead of a Dojo hahaha, I believe that with better lighting, the reception of information is better, which is very important when teaching movement techniques even in oratory when communicating since there is greater concentration. The fact was that we reorganized some things and removed old ones, renewing the energy in the place, this is accompanied by our own energy that makes the place have that heat.
For those who do not know, Dojo in Japanese martial disciplines translates as a place where the "Do" or path/path takes place. This becomes like a second home for anyone practicing any of these disciplines, be it judo, jujitsu, kendo, iaido, kobudo and, as in my case, Karate Do. In the Dojo, basic codes are used, such as: greeting when entering and leaving it. Greet the younger student and the teacher, maintain order and cleanliness, maintain a serene behavior and, above all, respect each other. To mention a few.
This year we were thinking of moving but due to situations beyond our control we couldn't, we had this in mind since there is a filtration problem that has complicated things a bit for us. This week we hope to resolve that.
I wanted to show them what teamwork can achieve and that willpower can do a lot, sometimes we don't even feel like going out, but we have to do and solve things, no matter how simple they may seem, they mean a great achievement, on this occasion it is the maintenance of my second home that for so many years has allowed me to grow as a person, as an instructor and as a warrior. Because there is no better school than patience and discipline. After the day's work we went to my teacher's house for lunch where we discussed some details of what was being done and what was pending for the next day. Once everything that had to be done was finished, we had an advanced class to practice a Kata called "Anan Dai" within the line of the Shito Ryu style, which is what I do. Here we discuss certain very useful technical aspects, this is one of the most performed kata in competitions worldwide.
Saludos.
