Strategy Guide for Bronze Bracket II (Modern Format) in Splinterlands [EN-ES]
Cover created in Canva
A couple of days ago, I published a post about the new BRACKETS that the Splinterlands team recently implemented in the “Modern Format,” which opens up a world of possibilities and fairness for players who don’t have decks that are fully maxed out. As a result, players are no longer forced to climb a single, continuous ladder where low-level decks face off against max-level lineups; the competitive ecosystem is now divided into six independent brackets, where each bracket sets both a minimum and a maximum level for cards. So, I’ll be starting a series of posts focusing on deck building at all levels, and today we’ll dive right into Bracket II (Bronze).
If you want to compete effectively without wasting anything along the way—by which I mean capital or other resources you need to play—you must understand how to build optimized decks using cards from the “Modern Format” (including its minisets like Escalation and associated expansions). Furthermore, the purpose of this post is to show you the best options available once and for all, since collecting high-mana-cost cards that lack synergy only drains your resources without generating returns—and that’s where financial ruin can begin. In Bronze, victory depends on the efficiency of your stats, proper positioning, and making the most of the active abilities that unlock at the level caps allowed in each BRACKET; you must keep this in mind, because the situation and gameplay differ at each level.
So, if you want to learn how to master Bracket II in the Modern Format and build winning lineups, read this post all the way through.
LEVEL Restrictions in BRACKET II (Bronze)
Before spending a single cent—whether on DEC, SPS, or any other token—to prepare and build a deck to play in the BRONZE BRACKET, the first thing you need to fully understand are the level restrictions for that BRACKET. This will help you acquire the exact cards you need at the specific level required; furthermore, if for any reason you have cards higher than the level of the BRACKET you chose, the card’s level will be reduced to the BRACKET’s maximum level limit.
Furthermore, you’ll only be able to choose specific cards from the “Modern Format,” so you’ll be limited to cards from the following sets: Arcane Conclave, Rebellion, Foundations, the Soulbound reward cards from both sets, promo cards, and, additionally, sets related to the themes of these main sets—for example, “Escalation.”
Now, to make sure you're aware of the restrictions based on alcohol content, keep the following in mind:
- Common Cards: Maximum Level 3
- Rare Cards: Maximum Level 2
- Epic Cards: Maximum Level 2
- Legendary Cards: Maximum Level 1
IMPORTANT: Finally, something extremely important that new users may not know is that the Summoner or Archon sets the level cap for your monsters on the field. This means that, to play your cards at their maximum level, you need to have Common Summoners at level 3, Rare Summoners at level 2, Epic Summoners at level 2, and Legendary Summoners at level 1.
Dominant Summoners (Archons) in the BRONZE METAGAME
The current Archons/Summoners are played in a completely different way than they were years ago. I say this from my own experience, but don’t worry—the summoners I’ll recommend are part of the game’s current META; that means they’re the most commonly used in hundreds and thousands of gameplay situations every day. In fact, that’s exactly what being in the META means.
So, for each of the 5 Splinters and/or Elements in the game—which total 5, excluding Neutral and Dragon—I’ll focus on the standard elements. This is because, for example, “Dragon” Summoners tend to be more expensive; although there aren’t many of them, you can still add them to your deck. However, I’ll limit myself to recommending Summoners from the standard elements; in other posts, I might talk specifically about “Dragon” Summoners.
Earth Splinter
Underboss Fabino (Rare - Rebellion): His tactical ability lets you choose between granting +2 Melee Attack to two cards or poisoning an enemy. He is the king of aggressive melee lineups and Opportunity
Kaylia Silverleaf (Rare - Arcane Conclave): Applies -1 Magic Attack** to the entire enemy team and activates synergy with her “Elf” bloodline and the “Execute” ability, making her the perfect counter against decks that prioritize magic attack.
Water Splinter
Prophet Rosa (Rare - Rebellion): Her tactic lets you choose between granting +2 Ranged Attack to two units or placing one with Shield on your Tank—preferably. I’d say she’s the ideal summoner if you want to attack from a distance, provided the conditions allow for it.
Marlai Singariel (Rare - Foundations): Grants a unique +1 Magic Attack stat to your entire team, so naturally you should play an offensive strategy focused on magic attacks in this context.
Fire Splinter
Fithe Bladestone (Rare - Arcane Conclave): Grants +2 Shield to the entire team, making it ideal for situations where you want to play defensively; in addition, you can play as many cards as you want with its “Bloodline” ability, and all units also gain “Void.”
Nomos (Rare - Rebellion): This is a tactical Summoner capable of applying Silence (-2 Magic Attack to two cards) or granting “Dispel” to remove the opponent’s buffs—quite useful, if you ask me.
Death Splinter
Reklah (Rare - Rebellion): Grants the tactical option to apply Weaken—or, for those unfamiliar, (-2 Health to two enemies)—and/or the ability called “Deflect” to two allies. In my opinion, he’s one of the best summoners for weakening the opponent while simultaneously protecting your own combo from redirected attacks.
Razi Clanktrap (Rare - Arcane Conclave): This Archon grants all his units the “Close Range” ability, so the idea is to play “Range” attack cards; in addition to this, activate the “Bloodline” synergy with “Gnome” and the “Painforge” ability, which is quite good.
Life Splinter
Avina of the Wolf (Rare - Rebellion): Allows you to choose between giving +2 speed to two units** or granting the “Heal” ability to a card. Turning your main tank into a self-healing unit in Bronze is an incredible strategy; in fact, it’s one of my favorites to use.
Bella Ratajowlski (Rare - Arcane Conclave): Grants all her units the “Deflect” ability, so she’s clearly a summoner focused more on “Defense” through redirected attacks; plus, she activates synergy with her Bloodline featuring “Ulund” and the ability called “Shield.”
Some KEY Cards in BRONZE
In order to build competitive decks, we need key cards that help us climb to the top of the “Divisions” in each BRACKET; the idea is that these cards unlock the skills needed to perform well in BRONZE, so I’ll share some of those cards with you below.
I won’t make this post too long because I could spend all day writing about these cards here, but I’ll share some of the most important ones. I’ll try to find a way to condense all this information so I can share an entire deck with you; I’ll probably use the “DECKS” tool on the “Peakmonsters” platform to share them all.
Cartas CLAVE en BRONCE
The cards I’m about to share aren’t listed in any specific order, nor are they organized by Splinter—even though some of them happen to be consecutive and share the same element. I’m just sharing this as a general overview. I want to make that clear so you don’t assume they’re in any particular order. So, now that that’s clear, let’s move on to the list of cards:
Ujurak Elder: Has Camouflage and Divine Shield, so it absorbs the first hit without taking damage.
Fenmoor Platypus: Attacks from the second position thanks to Reach.
Broken Earth Thug: A 3-mana unit with Opportunity.
Gobalano Soldier: Has Ambush and Sneak, so it attacks before Round 1 begins.
Commander Slade: Has high speed, Dodge, and Enfeeble (-1 Melee Attack to the enemy).
Saltwraith Corsair: A ranged support unit with the ability to inflict “Stun” thanks to “Kindred Spirit.”
Nimbledook Ranger: A ranged unit with the Double Strike and Snipe abilities.
Koi Archer:* Provides the ability called "Repair."
Crypt Beetle: Costs only 3 mana and has "Shield" to mitigate physical attacks.
Careless Badger: A 3-mana ranged attack unit with "Opportunity."
Shadowfey Sheik: A flying spell card with "Life Leech" that gains health points with every hit it lands.
Joraki Venshiro: A heavy-hitting attacker with Blind, which increases the chance that the enemy’s cards will miss.
Arachne Weaver: A magic-attacking card with “Poison” and “Scavenger”—the latter being very useful since it gains health points every time a card dies.
Final Thoughts
The introduction of BRACKETS in the Modern Format creates a balanced competitive environment for those who prioritize strategy. I love this because it suits any type of player—it means you don’t need top-tier legendary collections to win consistently; you need solid synergies built around your deck at the required levels, in this case, the levels associated with BRACKET II in BRONZE. The idea is to focus on obtaining the right Rare summoners and leveling up key cards to compete on equal footing in this BRACKET.
See you on the "Battlefield"
