Synopsis:

The story opens with pages of a mysterious book. A book about the myth of Lilith, well according to the Judaism religion. The book is full of lullabies and stories for children. Apparently, when a parent sings a lullaby from this book, Lilith who is a hag like woman with claw like hands comes from inside the mirror for their baby and replaces their baby with one of her own children. Lilith takes the baby with her inside the mirror because she lives inside the mirror, from which she watches little babies, which is the creepy part of the movie. Mirrors in this movie act as portals to Lilith’s world, where she keeps the babies she has stolen from parents.

According to the legend, Lilith was not a submissive woman, and she refused to be subordinate to Adam. So, she separated from him and God expelled her from Eden. She went off to find her own man, and she didn’t, and so she had relations with wolves and gave birth to deformed creatures, babies who didn’t look perfect like Adam’s children. She got jealous of Adam’s perfect children and that’s why she twisted the song she used to sing to Adam, and made it into a summoning incantation in lullaby form for her to come steal children.

So, this book gets into the hands of John and Rachel, who just had their little baby boy named Eli. Vivian is another important character, she is Rachel’s sister. In the very beginning of the movie, we see that Lilith steals Vivian's child and causes an accident through which her husband get killed. So, John and Rachel find out that there is something sinister going on. So, he finds someone called Rabbi Cohen and asks him for help to get rid of Lilith, to prevent her from stealing Eli.

He gives him some candles and an incantation to read, but he has to read it with faith in Judaism, otherwise it won’t work. So, John gets back home and finds that both Rachel and Eli are gone.

The plot twist is that Vivian sent the book to Rachel on purpose, so she could get into the mirror and get into Lilith’s world, and give Rachel’s boy (Eli) and in return get Zachary (Her own child) back.

Well, while Rachel is inside the mirror, there are girl fights between her and Lilith. And in all this chaos, Vivian finds her own child and replaces it with Eli and gives Rachel her own child.

Rachel then escapes from Lilith's world thanks to John’s incantation and lighting candles.

The story closes with Rachel and John getting their hands on the book and trying to get back inside Lilith world (inside the mirror) to get their child back.

My opinion:
I give this movie 7.5 out of 10 in the genre of horror, mystery, and thriller. It is definitely worth watching again. In fact, I watched it again to understand it better. This movie kept being interesting until the end. It is because the subject is fascinating, there are not many movies about Lilith and her legend. I would have liked better actors and a stronger screenplay, because the story is unique, and it deserves to be told uniquely.

1-Inside the Mirror
I liked the part where they get inside the mirror, it was captivating to see how Lilith takes care of so many stolen children: children of Adam. She sings to them a lullaby she used to sing to Adam. The lullaby in my opinion was not that touching, it didn't arise any emotions in me. The lyrics were not good.

2-Two Faces of Lilith (a powerful, ancient source of darkness)
Lilith is portrayed as the bad guy here, she is scorned for not being submissive to Adam and that made her look like a hag in our world but a beautiful woman in her own little paradise. So, we see two faces of Lilith in this movie, which is something interesting. This movie shows that Lilith was a woman who decreased her level by having relations with wolves. And being jealous of Adam, this made it look like there is no respect left for her in the world of humans, thus she becomes a demonized figure, and thus shown as a hag.

3-Candles: Symbol of Light
Lighting candles for getting saved from a monster, demonic being is a good touch of the movie and I liked it so much because candles do push away negativity and are so used in rituals. It was just that I thought with something small like candles, a life can be saved, but of course this is when a supernatural creature attacks you. I can’t help but wonder what it is about candles that makes them so special in rituals, whether dark or light. I know it symbolizes as having all the elements (fire, water, earth, and air) and all that, but what is truly behind their power to dispel negative forces?. The candles could be regarded as symbolic of light against darkness (Lilith) in this movie.

Sinopsis:
