Tablespoon Cafe

Today, we explore a new little cafe that I found near my University! Come with me to Tablespoon Coffee and Dessert House! I love these little cafes that serve coffee and desserts where you can go to relax, unwind and just chill. You don't need to socialize if you don't want to and the food is simple but satisfying.

The ambiance that greets you when you open the door pulls you in and entices you to stay, take your time, relax. It's a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle just outside. You don't want to go back out. The decor boasts of wooden tones and accents with cream walls that are quaintly lit by soft lighting. The wondrous smell of coffee pairs well with the earthy wooden decor mentioned earlier.

There was a wide variety of cakes and pastries available as well as food items on the menu that would be made to order. The seating was very comfortable albeit a little higher than I would have rathered (it was hard to get onto to sit down) and its design matched the decor.

The first thing I try in a new coffee place is their cappuccino. If they can make that well, I'd be open to try the other coffee drinks. They had a multitude of different teas available as well but I wasn't too interested at the moment as it wasn't what I felt for. So I ordered a cappuccino and my friend got the matcha green tea for beverages. For the desserts, I got the key lime pie and and my friend, an Oreo cupcake.

We both shared both desserts so we could taste each one. The key lime pie was well made, creamy and surely did not lack any flavor. The only downside though, was that it was a little bit too sweet so that when I was half way through, I felt too overwhelmed by the sweetness to continue. If you like sweets then this would be right down your alley! The Oreo cupcake was moist and the frosting went very nicely with the cake itself. I felt that the Oreo embedded on the top was a nice touch as many bakeries have similar iterations but without any signs of actual Oreos! So I felt that was kind of refreshing to see.

The barista there knew her stuff well and it showed in her production of both beverages. My cappuccino was well made and light as it should be. I could have done without that chocolate art on top though. I'm not sure I chocolate in my cappuccino otherwise I would have gotten a mochaccino instead. Nonetheless it was still beautiful!

The matcha green tea was, well, what it was. Nothing extra was really done to the drink but I did like the full green tea taste that it brought across. Not many people like that taste, including my friend so I had to drink it out for her!

I would definitely return to this little cozy place in the future for tea, coffee and desserts whenever I feel for some alone time! The java and the pastries were satisfactory and the ambiance of the place made me feel relaxed.
