Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):
That Allah's Messenger (Peace be upon him) said “Do not observe fast for a day, or two days ahead of Ramadan except a person who is in the habit of observing a particular fast; he may fast on that day.”

Benefits of The Hadeeth
1. Detestation of preceeding Ramadhaan with fasting, by fasting the day of doubt or a day or two before it.
2. Permissibility of fasting for the one whose habitual voluntary fasting falls on a day or two before Ramadhaan.
3. Desirability of voluntary fasting outside the month of Ramadhaan.
