I don't take too much of what passes for culture or politics seriously anymore. We no longer live within a serious age, so why should I or anyone else?
The left and right wings alike seem to thirst for some issue which will make our current circumstances of existential importance. It doesn't seem to matter quite how silly and non-threatening that issue need be, rather only that it can be elevated to that of great concern. Wonder why the media is the way it is, accept instead the fact that's the way we want it. We're desperate for our age to somehow matter, despite the fact we and the world have never had it better.
I don't care what your issues and great concerns are when I observe that most of them you've insisted upon visiting upon yourself. Only you can decide what is truly important in your life and if making it into a federal case ends up making you miserable about the world around you, who do you have to blame for that?
99% of what will prove of actual existential importance will have come from nothing more than our having gotten just what we deserve, after having continuously asked for it.
These exists a solution which amounts to nothing more than grabbing a hold of the promise that God will bless us every day, for all of our days, and it is up to each of us to find that blessing delivered each day. Do that and not only will the rest of life work out, it will bring meaning to it as well.
