I headed towards the colorful barangay of STOBOSA. These houses were a joint project of the artists of the Cordilleras, Department of Tourism and the government of Cordillera.

This is a mural best seen from the air. It is a painting of 180 homes covering almost 18000 square meters. It took reportedly half a year to finish this with the use of 2800 gallons of paints.

STOBOSA stands for the three sitios of Balili, La Trinidad, Benguet namely Stonehill, Botiwtiw and Sadjap.

The Colors Of Stobosa is the popular name given to this hill of mural of houses.

The flower boxes lining the road are even colorfully painted to match the backdrop of the more colorful houses.

Since becoming a tourist attraction, they have decided to set up this deck for viewing and photo taking. One cannot see the whole picture though from this point of view. You have to register when on the deck and those in charge of that took advantage by selling stuff and souvenirs.

I took the liberty of going into the sitios and took photos of the steep stairs but colorful ones.

This program is part of the RevBloom project of DoT.

The Colors of Stobosa can be found at km. 3 La Trinidad, Benguet. From the arch border of Baguio City and La Trinidad, you will not miss this for you can see it right away. Right jeepneys plying for La Trinidad either from Baguio Center Mall or Rizal Park below city hall. Ask the driver to drop you off STOBOSA. Fare is minimum of Php8.50 as of this writing. There is always the option of taking a cab.

Since the project was done a few years ago, new houses have been built. I wonder how they will incorporate the colors of these buildings.

The company who sponsored this endeavor reported that the paints used were eco-friendly. Hundreds of volunteers also helaped in making this a reality.

My only concern is the spaghetti of power lines which can be an eyesore which gives an obstructing view.

The mural of sunflower can only be appreciated by using a drone to see the whole picture. Or if I have climb up to the hill maybe I could get another view. I probably should try that next time.

This now makes this area beautiful both during the daytime and at night.

With the success of this project, plans are now being made to do another mural to the houses of another hill in Baguio City.
