"Dream but don't fall asleep" • "Sueña, pero no te quedes dormido". Iniciativa.
"Dream, but do not fall asleep".
Days ago I have been attentive to participate in this initiative proposed by the kind and outstanding user @mllg about "Dream, but do not fall asleep".
And, of course, so many dreams lost in time have come to me due to the lack of courage, decision and determination to crystallize desires and wishes that we all have. And it is for this reason that I have dreamed of the greatness of success, to the point of falling asleep when I should have stayed awake to reach such a goal.
In my life I have had a long career in the field of culture and music education, and it all began in 1976 when I was assigned with 9 hours in the specialty of English in the basic school José Félix Ribas de San Juan de los Morros Guárico state.
Because I played the cuatro and guitar, the principal called me and asked me to form the school's Christmas ensemble.
It was then when I began to dream because at night I went to bed with the desire to be director or coordinator of a cultural entity, including director of the Casa de la Cultura Victor Manuel Ovalles, in my city.
In that opportunity I dreamed, but I fell asleep because I never got to occupy any direction in any position even when I wanted to bear fruit in neighborhoods and urbanizations.
Likewise, I dreamed of being the director of a children's choir, but at the age of 22 I was just beginning to acquire knowledge and experience in this specialty.
Some dreams did come true for me, such as the conformation of a children's female quintet, a fact that occurred from 2017 with girls from 6 to 12 years old, but that lasted 3 years because the age difference marked the estrangement. It was called Quinteto Infantil Femenino Pariapán.
There were 6 girls, but 5 of them performed in the presentations, all of them playing the cuatro and playing at the same time.
On that occasion I dreamed, but I did not fall asleep.
Back in 1983 I was tempted to join a children's baseball team, which had the name LOS PILLUELOS, and belonged to the "Liga de Criollitos de Venezuela", but because I was not good at baseball, I did not know how to select the children because I accepted those who wanted to join the 2 teams, one of pre-infantile age, and the other of infantile age. They lost because of the high number of runs scored by the other teams.
That time I dreamed and fell asleep, but I dreamed and woke up several times. Only 2 years that company lasted.
My book.
I have always wanted to be a famous children's poet, and in 2007 my book of children's poems "El Carrito de Ideas" was published. Poem book of 100 pieces that later experienced a selection of 33 illustrated poems.
At that time my dream was fulfilled because I did not fall asleep although I tried to publish another book, but economic problems arose in the country, and the shortage deprived the printing of the book.
These have been just a few references, but the initiative has made me think about it, and I conclude that dreaming without falling asleep implies putting interest and being rooted in the success of what one aspires to achieve.
Many times it has been necessary for me to dream in a concrete way and there is a saying that goes "to rest on my laurels", which is equivalent to the fact that I set a goal, but I did not have perseverance.
Today I know that even at almost 69 years old, there is always the possibility of dreaming and reaching the reality of those dreams, but with the care of not falling asleep.
May God bless you every day. And I stress that "dream, but don't fall asleep."
"Dream, but do not fall asleep."
