(Above is a winter poem I wrote.)
This is my reality as I live in Michigan, in the US. It's a beautiful state. It's absolutely wonderful for about 8 months of the year: in late spring, summer, and early fall.
But then winter sets in.
It's cold.
Right now it's 11* Fahrenheit, which is -12* Celcius.
This is a cornfield close to my house. In the spring, it's hopeful, and full of possibility, with little corn plants beginning to grow. That is always my favorite time of the year. School is about to let out for the kids. Summer represents a slower pace for us.
Towards the end of summer, as the corn stalks get taller, my heart begins to sink a little bit. I feel a kind of pressure because it represents fall is starting again. Kids back in school. A faster pace. Everything runs quickly again. The rat races are back in full swing.
And then, towards the end of fall, this field is stripped. The corn is harvested. It's laid bare.
Naked.
It awaits the punishment, which inevitably comes. Winter. A death.
Such was the inspiration for this poem I wrote.
This is the toughest time of the year for me. I require vitamin D that comes from the sun. In its absence, I take vitamin d3 to help. And I try to stay active.
But winter has come. I must hang on and hope for spring.
