Some great ideas

Last week I asked for fun ideas to write about for the contest, and luckily several people responded. Tomorrow I will let you know who won the 5 LBI, but tomorrow is not today. And also today I have to blog.

A big shock

Now we've all had a big shock this week, and that shock still has me pretty much in its grip. A disadvantage of my highly sensitive nature! I take in the news, but then I can hardly put it off. And I'm not talking about feeling a bit bad about the safety of my own home, but this kind of news hits me so hard that it makes me anxious myself. And of course I know full well that this is nothing compared to what the people who are in the middle of it are going through. In fact, my fear is not important at all right now compared to what millions of people are going through right now. But it is the reason that I can't focus on writing a good blog for LBI at the moment. The reason I can't concentrate at all on the things I should be doing. And the reason I've said to myself that I spend as little time as possible in front of my PC, and keep myself busy with offline stuff as much as possible.

I have to for myself

If I don't do this, I'm just going to be constantly looking for news, and with every post I read, I get more depressed. It doesn't help anyone at all, including me. It doesn't help, doesn't change anything, except that I'm talking myself into a hole. Which doesn't make it better for my partner and myself in the end.

Not that much to say

Do I have nothing more to say then? To be honest? Not so much today, except that I'm actually surprised that most crypto didn't go down for more than a day, and then recovered pretty quickly.

I do expect hindrance from this

I seriously expected the impact to be greater, and to last longer. And I actually expect that we will have even more hindrance from this later on. Why? I foresee that a number of countries will look into whether this war could be partly financed by crypto. And that the call will become stronger again to regulate or even ban crypto. I expect that crypto will again have a negative image and that we will be one step further away from mass adoption and recognition.

Be aware of hacks

Despite the fact that huge donations have also been made for Ukraine thanks to crypto, even exceeding the withdrawal limits. Still, I would like to ask everyone who wants to donate from a good heart to pay attention, because these donations, no matter how well they are intended, often you do not know where this money ends up. Unless, you donate through your Hive account. Here at Hive, we can be fairly confident that our donations will go where we want them to go. Unlike an anonymous Bitcoin or Ethereum wallet. I had seen a message via Twitter that Ukraine was accepting Bitcoin, Ethereum and USDT donations, with wallet addresses. And right after that I saw a message from Vitalik Buterin warning against donating without a thorough verification. And that is something that should indeed be paid attention to. Many hacks are currently being performed on both sides, so it is very important to be careful that if you want to donate that your donation does not end up somewhere else than you would like.

Economies are suffering everywhere

In addition, it is a time to be happy that you have come into contact with crypto. Because everything that is going on right now is hitting every economy hard. Where I myself live in Europe, in the Netherlands, it may still be safe. We all feel this war in our wallets, and that in turn causes dissatisfaction among the population. The economic consequences are enormous.

What's the point of crypto when your life is on the line?

And no, this is not in proportion to people who have to put their whole lives behind them, and live in fear 24 hours a day, people who don't know if they will make it into the next day. And that last one keeps me busy. I can't get it out of my mind. And can't help but think… what's the point of having a full account full of crypto when your life is on the line?

We're all working hard here to achieve financial freedom, but what's the point of financial freedom if your real freedom and life can be taken away from you tomorrow?

Stay safe everyone!
