For today's blog I searched for a crypto, which for once is NOT in the dog world. And of course there are plenty. But in the long list of cryptos, I came across a name that made me laugh. I saw a crypto called Brokoli! And I thought it was worth taking a closer look. I hope you will find this crypto just as surprising.
Brokoli Network (BRKL) is a breath of fresh air for the crypto world. It is clear that it is important to do something about the climate change caused by humans. We have all made use of what the earth has to offer us, only you could say that this supply is starting to run out.
Fortunately, in the crypto world, we also understand that sustainability is necessary. For example, Bitcoin miners are working to be able to mine new Bitcoin (BTC) in a sustainable way. And more and more new projects are emerging, all of which want to contribute to a better, cleaner and greener world.
Brokoli Network (BRKL) is another such new project that wants to contribute to this, and at the same time want to ride on the big metaverse hype.
The climate has never been important in the past when blockchain technology was developed. Suddenly, the various applications (dApps) in the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) market were fully used, while people were not concerned at all with the possible impact this had on the climate. After all, it costs a lot of power to keep a blockchain network running.
This got worse with the rising popularity of DeFi. More and more new blockchains were added, and existing blockchains became overloaded. As an example, think of the increasing transaction costs and decreasing processing times of Ethereum (ETH).
Every $1 in crypto value is responsible for $0.66 in damage to nature, people and the environment.
Continuing this way was not an option for the founders of Brokoli Network. Something had to be done to make the DeFi and blockchain world more sustainable. Only in this way could the blockchain be a long-term solution to decentralize centralized services and applications. And from that thought, Brokoli Network was born.
Brokoli Network is a play-to-earn and play-to-impact protocol for the NFT metaverse. An NFT tree is planted for every transaction a user makes on Brokoli. This is an asset that allows you to earn passive income. By combining DeFi and GameFi, Brokoli wants to make a positive impact on the climate.
The project consists of three parts, each of which performs its own task to achieve the goal:
Brokoli is developing its own decentralized exchange (DEX) with which they want to reduce the influence that crypto has on the climate. Despite their purpose, the user experience should not be damaged.
The DEX is based on the Uniswap V3 model. The main difference, however, is that the slippage fees are used to fund projects that contribute to renewable energy supply, tree planting and recycling.
Due to the high volatility and thus rapid price changes, liquidity providers are often unable to trade their orders for the exact desired price. The slippage is the percentage difference that may be between the entered and actual price. This is mainly used in the event that prices rise very quickly or days, when, for example, a breakout occurs.
Brokoli's DEX uses a system that allows users to trade much closer to the set price. This gives users the opportunity to determine the costs themselves. These are between 0.05% and 10% per transaction.
Fees paid by users and not used for the slippage will be used to reduce the carbon footprint of a transaction. This ensures that every transaction contributes to improving the climate, without actually increasing the costs.
The user will not notice this from the price he will pay. They pay the same prices as they would when a trade gets executed on Uniswap. The only difference is that the leftover slippage will be used to improve the climate.
Brokoli also uses the play-to-earn principle to plant digital trees. These digital trees are in fact an NFT and give users the ability to determine their own impact on the climate. The users can then sell their Digital Forests to third parties.
By using the Brokoli-DEX you can receive digital trees. The value of this is based on how much you have contributed to the climate (with the slippage set).
All functions that you can think of within the DeFi ecosystem can soon be performed with a DEX, dApp or other product type from Brokoli. By using these functions, you will receive special NFTs with which you can grow your digital forest.
It is then possible to walk through your digital forest in the metaverse. Once you have started building your forest, you will be able to view other users' forests and join the leaderboard. You can also buy and sell digital forests to other users with the BRKL token.
These forests can be converted to Brokoli Impact Credit. These Impact Credits can then be purchased by organizations and companies that want to make a positive impact on the climate. Consider, for example, the creation of a new forest or the removal of plastic in the ocean.
Minting NFTs takes a lot of energy, so Brokoli uses Immutable X to mint NFTs with a layer 2 solution. This ensures a minimal ecological footprint that NFTs carry with them. It then takes less time to mint the NFT, so that less energy is needed to complete this process.
Brokoli Network also wants to develop solutions that allow other projects to use Brokoli. For example, an API is being developed with which other developers can add an application to their website that shows the ecological footprint of a transaction. The user is then given the option to reduce the ecological footprint.
This API will be available for marketplaces, exchanges and wallets. This allows other projects to go 'green' easily and quickly, without losing customers to Brokoli Network, and a win-win-win situation is created (for the user, Brokoli Network and the application that uses the API).
The team behind Brokoli Network consists of 13 people, the most important of which are below.
Brokoli also has a large team of users and partners, all of which can be found on their website.
You can only buy Brokoli Network's BRKL token at this time on Gate.io and decentralized exchanges Uniswap (UNI) and Pancakseswap (CAKE).
The BRKL token is an ERC20 token that runs on the Ethereum blockchain and can be stored in any wallet that supports ERC20 standards.
It is clear that something needs to be done in the area of the environment and climate. Blockchains, and therefore cryptocurrencies, consume a lot of power. That is simply not the best for our environment. Brokoli Network wants to make a positive impact on our world.
By creating its own metaverse in which people can plant forests, Brokoli wants to ensure that people start using their products. These products are designed to reduce the ecological footprint of the user, and they are very happy to thank the user for that.
As soon as someone uses a Brokoli product, they receive NFT Trees. With these trees, users can then plant a Digital Forest. They can then sell this forest to organizations and institutions that want to make a positive impact on the climate, for example by planting forests or cleaning up plastic.
Personally, I love the idea, will it really be successful? I think that depends on many factors, and time will tell. For now, I think it's a project to keep an eye on, and maybe invest a small amount at most to try it out. I like the idea of my own virtual forest! Of course, I am curious what you think of this green project!
