This is my 5th post now in Steemit and today I wanted to show you one of the best murals we have in Barcelona, it’s my favorite by far… I don’t know if many people know about it, but it was designed by Joan Fontcuberta, a Catalan artist and photographer and the catalan ceramist Antoni Cumella, in 2014. It is situated in the square Isidre Nonell, in the Ciutat Vella district in Barcelona.
If you see it in the distance you might thinks it’s a giant image or a graffiti of a kiss, but in fact, it’s a photomosaic made up of 4000 small-format photographs printed onto tiles. The photomosaic was done with pictures of citizens which describe their “moments of freedom”. Its origin comes from the tercentenary celebrations commemorating the events of 1714 in Barcelona when the catalans were defeated by the war of the Spanish Succession, which gave rise to the commemoration of Catalonia’s Day.
