Maybe because of the stress that hip replacement surgery for my mom brings. Maybe I'm just too tired at the end of the school year. Maybe all of those things.
By the way, today was the last day when I had to get up so early in the morning to go to school to teach. We will still have classes but not so early so I will have chance to sleep in. And I love to sleep. At least 8 hours at night. Maybe more. And I need it or I don't function well the next day.
But last night wasn't good for rest. Due to impending surgery of my mom I had 3 nightmares, one involving driving a red Ferari sports car. Don't ask me why it was a nightmare...
My first thought in the morning was of my mom. Naturally. How did she sleep? How is she feeling? Her surgery was supposed to start at 7:30 AM but around 7 AM my mom called and told me it was postponed to 10 AM. The doctors told her it was the problem with operation room. But she was so stressed out that she thought it was bad luck and even wanted to leave the hospital and go home.
I succeeded to convince mom to stay by saying it was of course her choice. And since no one wants to take this responsibility on herself, she stayed. Maybe she just needed someone to talk to.
Then @organduo and I had some breakfast (leftover pizza from the day before), took our separate cars and went to town. I - to teach to school and he - to the church because he would have to give organ demonstration in the morning and to play for the opening ceremony of some sporting event at the university in the afternoon.
At school I found out that one of the teachers is quitting after this year. Everybody who knows this teacher is upset because she has been loyal to our school for more than a decade, I think. And when loyalists start to jump the ship, it's not a good sign for the organization.
While at school I waited for some news about my mom. But for a long time there were none. When I was done with my classes, I called my brother to see if he has any news. He also didn't know anything new.
I started to worry that perhaps the operation didn't go well. That there were complications. Then @organduo called and told me he bought a special stick for picking up stuff. It even has a magnet which should come handy to my mom when she is recovering and can't bend her back.
Since there wasn't anything else to do I went home and met @organduo there. We had some lunch together and then my brother called and said he talked to one of the surgeons and it turned out the operation was a success and my mom is doing OK and will be back in her room soon. The reason it took them so long was because they had to postpone it again.
We decided to come visit her after @organduo is done with his performance at the university. So I waited for him in the lobby and used this time to catch up with some reading on Steem.
Then @organduo came from the organ and we got into the car and went to the hospital. When I saw my mom, she was pale and cold with IV in her hand. But she was clearly glad to see us.
We brought her some bananas, water and this picking stick. Not long afterwards my brother and dad came separately too. It was getting crowded in the room.
I instructed @organduo to stay with my mom during the night but upon consultation with her neighbor who will be released tomorrow she decided that she will be OK without anybody looking after her during the night.
So we all went home. At home I felt spent and didn't have any energy left to draw my Pinky and Spiky comic today. Therefore I'm writing about my day instead.
I actually don't feel like drawing for a few days now. Obviously it has everything to do with my mom's operation. I hope I will feel more myself when she recovers and can start drawing again.
Thank you for your patience! Pinky and Spiky will return...
