The subject I like to read about most is Go programming. Now that I am on Steemit I am a bit sad that no articles about Go programming seem to appear on here. So let me change that.
I have a history with several jobs in programming, although I didn't study anything like Computer Science. I would love to still do that some day.
Before programming Go professionally, I programmed in Common Lisp. I found the Lisp family very pleasant to work with, and that is probably one of the reasons I never really got into C/C++ programming: it's just not as comfortable to work with! Lisp is almost programmer heaven. One thing I found out doing Lisp programming is that it makes a lot of difference if code is maintainable, it is very very nice if you can compile your code (I was looking for ways to do that with Lisp) and you can basically create any construct you want if you have anonymous functions. Lisp macros are basically just syntactic sugar around anonymous functions most of the time.
Then, because of my fascination with Google, I saw Go announced and I felt this would become big. Why? Anonymous functions! Many people dismissed it, but I was sold. I tried the first versions out, then got my Microsoft customer support job and found that Go permitted me to keep on programming while not having to set up a huge programming environment, and then I got a job using it!
Now I'm in between jobs, mostly on my own responsibility, but definitely Go still makes the difference for me between programming badly and annoyed, and programming for fun and general utility.
I will try to write more here about programming in Go, maybe also in other languages to teach a little bit of Go for those who speak other languages!
