Being born in a home where economic and financial resources were scarce (I won't say poverty) because poverty is a condition that can be overcome, but normally I particularly associate poverty with the little capacity to want to get ahead, poverty is not having an entrepreneurial spirit, poverty is mental, for that and other reasons, I don't compare or say to the little economic and financial liquidity with poverty.

Uff I went on a bit of a tangent, but back to the topic, being born in a home with little financial liquidity taught me the power you have when you can manage financial resources in things that were really necessary for that moment, as it was to eat and to pay services and to pay the urban transport that took me to school, but in some cases to save the payment of bus fare, knowing how to manage the resources that one obtains by effort and work, helped me to face several challenges that I faced in the course of life, none easy to say it, but in my home with little financial liquidity, there was always something that I am sure there was no in other homes, and it was something called happiness.

Since I was very young, I mean since I started earning money from my work, my mother taught me to apply what was colloquially said in my home, and that was to cover yourself as far as the blanket reaches you, never to want to be above others for the simple fact of having a little more money that was enough to buy food, with respect to the neighbors, but despite that, also sharing a little with them.

My mother taught me to manage resources very well, something that served me for life was to save 10%, friends it really works, within that budget that you have for the fruit of honest work, you should always try, I say (try) because in many cases it is difficult, but always try to save 10%, the rest manage it well and wisely, I can tell you that from that wise administration of the money you earn and how you use it to cover your costs, you can make your life happier because it will be enough to eat in the midst of needs.

That learning served me forever, much later in my adulthood I had very good moments of great financial liquidity, always tucking my needs without exceeding them, saving 10% by buying a stronger currency than the Fiat currency of my country, so that when those difficult moments of financial scarcity came, I could cover my family costs.

Those ups and downs were always there and are still there, and it is the government factor with bad economic applications, which always make me unbalance my financial flow due to inflation, example today in my home due to salary factors, as a teacher and head of payroll earning a single salary for two functions that does not reach $30 per month plus my wife's salary which is more or less are $15 per month. So we have to do what has to be done to be able to cover all the costs of our family.

Do not be amazed is the reality in my home, the money that comes in as a salary between my wife and I, are just $45, and it is less and less because I say that, what is worth today 09/15/2023 the dollar in front of the price for inflation and higher inflation when changing bolivars (bolivars is the Fiat currency in Venezuela) to dollars is less and fewer dollars, consequently I must do alternative jobs to be able to have an economic flow that reaches me to be able to cover the basic costs of my home, I say this because you have to be very clear and know how to differentiate between costs and expenses in order to develop an adequate personal budget.

I always keep my accounts, first I do it in a notebook and at the end of the month I do it on the computer just to keep a record, I also have the bank statements, this way I know how much my income and expenses were in the month.

My priorities, for example, are in this order.

  • Food
  • Condominium
  • School
  • Utilities Electricity, telephone.
  • Personal and household toiletries.
  • Fuel
  • Bus fare.

From the income that we can have between my wife and I, we always keep in mind that the costs must be planned and controlled, especially for the little liquidity that we have as a couple at this time of our lives, today for today in many occasions we have had abundance, but currently it is not so, for that reason every penny counts when covering the needs, and we do not turn it into unnecessary expenses such as leisure or eating at a restaurant or shopping without sense. I am sure that this bad streak will soon leave our lives.

And what can you tell me about your personal budget, do you use your financial resources well, do you know how to separate costs from expenses, as you do with your personal economy.
