That's just part of being a responsible adult to have some sort of strategy just in case crap goes sideways for a while, things can happen so fast, the proactive generally can weather the storm especially if you have a family to care for. Like you said, people are over-reliant on supply chains like nothing can ever run out, that's a slippery slope. I'm sure this event was a wake up call to many since everyone was whining on FB that they had nothing to feed their families on some nights. Unfortunate but who keeps one day worth of food in their house in the first place?

I have always been a prepper too, maybe not hardcore but canned & dried goods to last me a few months, most of the stuff that was missing from the stores for months at least. It may not be the best eatings but it's still nutritious and filling. Everyone should have extra but I can see it's not as common as I thought, at least not with my generation.

I find it sad to see everyone over extended on credit thinking they are living the life, I get made fun of because I live simply, I even get called "one on those off the grid weirdo", which I take as a compliment to be honest. They will wake up when the rug gets pulled from under them, maybe they wont and blame the system, who knows. As a society we need to get back to simpler times and stop being slaves of the system.

As far as covid goes, I think you are right, we are just scratching the surface, I see it getting worse before it gets better as well especially for those that have been deferring payments for the last 4 months and were living paycheck to paycheck before then, it will be time to pay the piper soon and it wont be pretty. I'm glad some are prepared and being responsible.
