For this week's topic, lets have a little bit of fun about ourselves. Do you have a line you use often? Perhaps it's something funny or sweet and caring, or a personal moto, something you want us to know about you no matter what it is (keep it clean-ish) as long as it's turned into a meme. You may use your own images or the ones provided in the meme making website you are using given you share the website used to make your lazy creations . For newbies, it's a good habit to source your material used aside from your own therefore, listing the tool website used is essential.
What are the rules?
Generate a meme about yourself and post in the comments with a few words of what inspired you to create it. It has to be your own, although I do understand we might think similarly and not keep track of every meme ever published, just make an effort to be legit.
Look at other memes in the comments (if any🤣) and engage, if you see one that inspired another great lazy creation, feel free to post it below their comment and let it roll downhill!

Tips to newcomers
Patience and perseverance are a virtue and dial back your expectations from the start. We all post and want it to go to trending, reality, only a few make it there. Is there something wrong with your content? Not necessarily, building an audience and talent discovery just takes just time. There are many writers on the platform therefore many posts for curators to comb thru. We all went thru the .06 post payout indefinitely, you will get out of that stage with a bit of work. Sometimes things can seem unfair but as you gain experience on the platform and make friendships, you will understand more why engagement matter and is relevant to your success.
While waiting for your talents to be discovered, why not go around, select a few favorites that do well in the field you want to write or have a style you favor and study from them, the style they use, post length, type of information or images provided. Creativity leads to more creativity. If you are not posting in a community, find one compatible with the content you post and use them, it help with content identification and discovery. Visiting other blogs and engaging in meaningful conversations help build friendships, sometimes things may get off topic but it can lead to having a really good time and may feel more comfortable asking questions along with better overall experience on the Hive platform after you have made a few friends.
Still think it's your content? We always have room for improvement no matter how long we have been on the platform, no matter what, you should always try to improve your skills. If you think it's your content, is it tired? do you cater to what people want or your personal likings? How much effort are you putting into your post? Trends change quickly on the internet, such is life.
Keeping your content somewhat diversified will also cater to a broader range of consumer taste. For example posting text with your pictures, you may get some that are purely interested in reading the story and vice-versa. Sometimes it may be that there is too much of that specific content on the platform and you may need to present your information differently, don't be afraid to be bold, start your own trend, be yourself. Worse case scenario, it doesn't work and TRY AGAIN and AGAIN. Persistence is key, claim your place in the wild wild west. Just give it time.
If you want to be mentored, don't wait for someone to find you in despair in the shadows. Ask! Not everyone may have time but many around here are willing to help if asked for helpful tips or constructive criticism to better results. Don't be afraid to ask. We may not know everything but each of us knows something. We understand the initial learning curve can be overwhelming.
Now for my participation in the go-meme-yo-self, that's kinda of vague topic right? Lets share and get to know each other via memes. What are you hiding? From your favorite foods to silly things you think or do, anything about yourself will do. My first one would be my dear fangny friend, over here, I have been saying that line since I was probably born, in real life, I can be quiet and reserved at first until I feel comfortable with the crowd and can appear distant and mean. Until people talk to me and realize I'm a complete A-hole, but in a funny way and mostly friendly-ish. I turned my inside thoughts and one of my favorite lines into a meme.
Where did I develop complete opposite personality traits? Why does shadybug exist? My early jobs were in the service industry and I had to be nice to people to keep my job naturally. When I moved away and came to Alberta, things were starting to get more progressive towards non traditional gender roles. On paper, it sounds like a nice gesture but reality was far from the rosy picture painted in gender equality. The companies promoted such propaganda but the boys in the skilled trade were not always accepting of my smaller non-existent package and could be down right cruel. So they thought!
Some days I had to take off crying in the bathroom because around here you're supposed to check your feelings at the gate, sometimes shattering glass ceilings hurt quite a bit. At the time, I was still a little girl in my early 20's, I wouldn't fight back. As an apprentice on top of that, I knew my place, if I talked back, then I could be considered insubordinate or difficult, even if it was to defend myself, so I didn't. Sexually harassed, demeaned, grabbed, I even had personal encounters with a murderer...alone. I didn't know at the time, the crime was committed a month after interacting with said person but my intuition told me to stay away so I listened. Never quite felt safe in my environment and never quite felt safe to speak up either. These things are kinda hushed around even if you try. The more you try to make a point of it, the worse it gets but the money was good enough to keep me there.
Until one day, someone stomped on my last nerve and I just blew up with a proverbial colonoscopy resonating in the entire power boiler (electricity generation) and threatened to cut someone's hands off with a grinder for grabbing my ass while I was grinding...Everybody heard it, it's one giant multiple story resonating metal box after all. I can have patience but it ran out. Another time, I got hit and no one batted an eye lash or said boo so I hit back right then and there...Within 5 minutes, the news had spread to our northern work camps located 5 hours away, that moment almost made me a legend and there was a shack full of witnesses, shit was rough back then and we were unwelcomed. I realized nobody had my back in this madhouse.
From that day forward, things begun to change slowly, I built a reputation with my skills and personality, not always in my favor but I always stood up for my rights...don't get on my bad side! It's not that I'm an a-hole, it's just some behaviors at work were just unacceptable and being nice doesn't always get the point across especially as a female and tend to be seen as a push-over, as someone to steamroll. I had to become less vulnerable and learn to fight like a bull if I wanted to stick around here. In other words, learn to hit where it hurts as long as they don't sign my paycheck. Now I have no trouble swinging one way or the other. And that is the story how I became an a-hole or my alter ego shadybug was born that sometimes like to bite right in the soul!
In the 15 years I have been around the skilled trades, things have gotten better slowly, women get more respect at least to our face, which is all we really asked in the first place. I passed all my schooling and that buys me a couple more mouthfuls. We have a long ways to go to reach full equality but each minor victory advances us in some way shape or form. Alone it feels like we are barely making a dent but looking back collectively, we accomplished a great deal to change the landscape and make it more female friendly...There was a time where having a proper bathroom was too much to ask. We don't care if you believe or not if we belong, just keep it to yourself and give us a chance anyway, you might be surprised at our skills and willingness to learn new ones. Surprisingly, the ones that still give us the most trouble are the fresh out of trade school full of mouth not backed by skills or job experience, I suppose you could say those intimidated by us.
I try not to take it personally anymore. I found my peace in the chaos and fit in just fine. To take the direction I did in life was bold but fortune favors the bold. The oilpatch and energy industry was a tough but rewarding journey and even on the worst financial years like this one, I still somehow survive without too much stress. The situation has been overwhelming but it definitely taught me lessons of strength, patience and perseverance as I get wiser in my years and learned how to tame the beast but I still can't help my sarcastic humor. I try not to expose you to too much of that here but it kills at work(not literally). Not quite the same audience that like pictures of flowers mountains and wildlife so I mostly try keep my dark humor to myself online! That's what I hide, what are you hiding? Are you your full self online? Can you be your full self online?
When things get tough and you feel like giving up, keep your eyes on the prize and push a little harder, in time, the rest just becomes noise you hardly remember. Don't be afraid to think outside the box...Unknown paths lead to unknow destinations.
