As I have talked about before I am a member of the Tennessee Poor People's Campaign. Recently Kingsport Tennessee has taken the approach that Homeless people need to be charged with crimes. The crimes are simple for the fact that they are poor and have no place to really lay their heads at night. Kingsport could try to help these people. They want to drive these people out of Kingsport. Kingsport could build an inclusive shelter for the homeless. Instead they want to try and attract more big money to the City. You have doctors and nurses leaving Ballad Health due to how people are treated and other issues. Eastman Chemical is getting ready to downsize their global workforce. Kingsport you need to stop trying to bring outsiders and start taking care of your own people. I am currently working with Michael Gillis of Hunger First. I have put him in touch with the National Union of the Homeless. I have brought him into the Poor People's Campaign. I can tell you that Michael Gillis has a new unsettling force behind him. We won't stop till Kingsport remebers that everyone has the right to housing and to live.
