Our first stop was on this narrow patch of green on the edge of a shear cliff. It was rather intimidating to stand below as there was many signs of recently fallen rocks and penty of fractured rocks waiting to fall on you that a seagull could easily dislodge. Many of whom roost on this cliff.
The water was wonderfully clear here and a wonderful shade of blue. But I was informed that this particular stop was not to fish, but to gather a wild plant. Mountain Sorrel.
The rocks on this small strip of land acted as umbrellas to prevent the Sorrel from being covered in seabird guano, and the guano acted as fertilizer to create thick tufts of the buckwheat family plant. Alongside the Mountain Sorrel I also found very thick Lichens growing on the rocks. Probably due to the lack of humans disturbing them, the lichen in this area was thicker by at least two times compared to what I find on the island of Igloolik. That sentence is clunky.
The sights were absolutely stunning.
Here is the Mountain Sorrel that we were after. I will do a post on it in the coming days. I will find out the Inuit name for the plant as well as their traditional uses. Beyond turning your tongue green :p
To help promote and the Lensy.io NFT Photography site I will be giving away 2 photographs to REAL people who leave comments below this post. I will try to exclude the bots, which should be fairly easy as they stand out like a sore thumb that's been whacked with a hammer all day. The photographs are not necessarily from this blog and will be given out randomly.
All you need to do to be eligible to receive the NFT's as Prizes is leave a comment. Let's #ENGAGE each other. Tell me what you like about the photo or what you think of NFT Photographs. Personally, I think they will be EXTREMELY versatile in the months and years to come. No crediting artists, no slogging through stock photo sites. Just buy the product you want to use and use it any way you want.
