The Philippines Is Still Practicing a Deposit Return Scheme And It Works!

In the Philippines, Coca-Cola, Pepsi and other fizzy/soda companies are still sold in glass bottles.

I visited last year and was surprised to see Coca-Cola in glass bottles, which I had long forgotten in England and probably other countries too!

That even other fizzy drinks come in glass bottles.

You can take them home with a small deposit, and once you're done, you return the empty bottle to the shop, either to exchange it for a full one or to get your deposit back.

So, some countries like the Philippines are still practising a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS), which helps reduce the production of new bottles. It’s better for the environment and also for our health.

And I must say, the drinks in glass bottles tasted better!
