Hello brethren
The Bible is word of God, not our words. This therefore means that for us to understand it, we need the understanding from God. According to bro Eli, the Bible has its own interpretation and understanding the Bible is also God given. Human understanding is limited when it comes to understanding the Bible. Our minds are not sufficient enough to understand the Bible, that's why we need the guidance of the holy spirit of God.
According to scripture, the thinking of man is vanity.
Psalms 94:11
The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
No human understanding is capable of understanding the Bible. Our thoughts are vanity before God.
In 1 Corinthians 11:9, the Bible says that God will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring the understanding of the prudent to nothing.
So God is capable of destroying our wisdom, such that we can't comprehend his word by our power, but by his spirit.
For us to have a genuine understanding of the Bible, we need to depend on the help of the holy spirit of God. He is the one to guide us in to all truth. On our own, we can not understand the Bible.
The good news is that if we turn to the reproofs of God, he'll poor his spirit on us and make known his words to us, according to Proverbs 1:23.
The book of 1 Corinthians 2:11 says;
For what man knoweth the things of a man save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man but the Spirit of God.
Understanding of God's word is given by the spirit of God. So we need to completely depend on the Holy spirit of God.
1 Corinthians 2:10 confirms;
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
From the scripture above, it is the spirit of God that can guide us into the deep things of God. So revelation must come from God through his spirit for us to understand God's word. If we rely on our understanding, we would be misled.
1 Corinthians 1:20-21 says;
Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
The Bible is God's word and not ours, that's why we always need the help of the Holy spirit to give us the right interpretation and understanding.
Thanks for your time
