It is with the help of the Holy Spirit of God that we can understand the Bible. That which was written by the Holy Spirit can only be explained to us by the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit we will not be able to make any sense out of what the Bible says. The Bible itself tells us that the things of the spirit are foolishness unto the natural mind. It is with the Holy Spirit that we can receive that light that can make us to understand what the Bible says. Man can understand what he has gotten from his senses but he needs the Holy Spirit to explain to him those things that concern God.
Meditating upon the Word of God brings out the light from the word of God unto us. We do not live in isolation from the Word of God and then expect to understand it. Intimacy is needed if someone wants to really get himself familiar with things of God. So, a random scanning through the Bible will not make us to really understand what God wants us to learn. Understanding the Bible requires that we must create time out of our busy schedule to read and study the Bible.
