Thanks for your comments! I totally understand and agree with your concerns around beaconing. This would not be my choice for house clearing or building search. I prefer a separate handheld light for those scenarios, and would pick up a different weapon.
However, it is ideal for my intended use. This is a concealed pocket pistol, which means it is intended to not be seen until it goes off, and needs to be activated quickly in the event use is required. I do not want a separate step to flip it on, no matter how simple. Even though it also has the Xray night sights, I find the laser much faster to pickup and also allow me to stay focused on the target, which can be a challenge for us old folks with progressive lens glasses, or that may not have our glasses on.
As far as beaconing goes in this scenario, it is exactly what is wanted, because that would be in the case of like a gang or Antifa attack scenario, where the intent may be to take out the initial target or two that are immediate threat, then the "beaconing" be used to intimidate others in the near potential threat zone, but not immediate kill danger zone.
I found both the Streamlight and the Olight Baldr Mini larger than I prefer for a deep concealment weapon, but they are both fine for larger OWB carry or Home use if folks like them.
