Good morning dear hivers, I hope you had a great weekend... Today, I join again to the wonderful challenge that our friend @galenkp proposes us, with his interesting proposals that inspire us every weekend. Below I share with you my appreciation on a question that caught my attention.
Where are you on the spectrum of workaholism and relaxation?
My experience in the world of work has always been focused on a very stressful environment, when I graduated as a lawyer I was litigating in court, most of the cases that came to me were criminal, I have always been a very peaceful and calm person, you can imagine the stress I felt when I had to handle this type of litigation, those years were very exhausting for me, when I understood that my vocation was related to sales, I got a job as a medical visitor and the stress disappeared from my life, because I worked long hours, but in an activity that he loved.
At this point in my working life, I feel that my addiction to work was in the past, when I gave more priority to work than to my health and my family life, when I began to suffer from insomnia and when I understood that the sales figures were they were becoming an obsession, since I had the calculator 24 hours a day in my hands, taking percentages and sums, I understood that I was losing my quality of life, so I made the decision to work giving my best, but without wanting to reach against all odds to occupy the first place of sales.
I could assure you that I am currently experiencing labor relaxation, I must confess that I do not have the same comfort and economic prosperity that I had in the past, where I went shopping without seeing the prices of things and bought in abundance. Currently I only buy what is necessary and I always look for the best deals. I would never trade my work past for this present, since now I enjoy and value every moment I share with my family, I have quality sleep, my blood pressure is within normal values, I can enjoy the time I have free enjoying what I I love doing more, knowing that life is a single journey and that we must enjoy it to the fullest. Definitely for me having quality of life is very valuable, having the possibility of being able to work without stress adds years to my life!
I'm glad I had the courage to give up a well-paying job to pursue my happiness, even if it meant less flow of money. I am very happy that today my balance leans towards the peace that working in a relaxed way produces. In my work past, I stopped feeling peace. With this absence, many feelings are produced that generate unhappiness. I remember having stopped looking at the clock, tiredness and The exhaustion that I felt in my body was the alarm that warned me that I had to rest, now I look at the clock many times, managing my time and carrying out all my activities without stress, sometimes some errands are left undone, but I no longer get stressed because I know that there is always a tomorrow to continue with the pending work, the important thing is to turn our routine into a pleasant experience.
