Can something else other than markdown and the interface provided by Steemit be used to create and manage posts made on the Steemit stream?

Other than the plugin for wordpress which is supposed to allow you to post to Steemit, is there anything else that would be useful?
I really am warming up to the idea of moving my entire site here.
