The fact that we cant refuel in space is one of the key factors of why space-travel is so expensive. Now, we are a step closer to getting rid of that cost.

NASA recently successfully showcased one of their three Robotic Refueling Mission 3 devices. These devices were designed to robotically transfer liquid methane from one tank to another. The Multi-function Tool 2 released the cryogen coupler adapter and inserted it into the correct port. Future iterations of the system could one day replenish fuel, such as hydrogen, oxygen or methane on spaceships. The test that took place on the ISS.
Cryogenic fuel tanks need to be kept at extremely low temperatures. This is because if they warmed up their precious content could get damaged. This was what caused a failure back in April when the Robotic Refueling Mission 3 module had a problem with charging its cryogenic cooling system. After several attempts to solve the problem they found out that the cooling system couldn't be turned on and thus the temperature of the liquids inside started to rise.
Thankfully, the latest attempt went well and our space future is another step closer.
