ENGLISH VERSIÓN
He is the highest paid athlete in the world in the year 2021 according to the economic magazine Forbes, surpassing in terms of economic earnings to the great athletes we all know, however, in the sporting arena he has not been completely convincing for a while now.
Since his controversial fight with Floyd Maywheather Jr, Conor's career took off like a Spacex ship, but only financially, because as I said, he is the highest paid in the sport.
Conor the Showman
Conor Mcgregor loves the cameras, the spotlight is always on him, he loves being on TV and giving interviews to the media, it's something he enjoys.
This is confirmed by the fact that he already has a kind of documentary about his life, his history and how he has conquered the UFC to become the top star of the company.
A money-making machine
The guy is a money making machine, I don't want to focus too much on this but it's a reality.
He has been able to create an image that he can sell so he can amass a good fortune, see the fight he did against Floyd which meant income like he had never received before.
Sponsorships, payments for events, image rights and even his own liquor, without a doubt Mcgregor has known how to take advantage of his time in the highest peak of his sports career, because as we know nothing lasts forever and sports careers tend to be short-lived.
And what about the sports?
All the money that Mcgregor has already earned allows him to live a quiet life, with all the luxuries he wants, where he does not have to work a single day of what is left of his life.
Despite this we see Conor continuing to go into the octagon or ring to put his life on the line fighting.
Is Mcgregor really focused on his sports career?
He has already given statements on the matter saying that he has lost his compass, because of everything he has been through and how money has changed his life.
For a person who has experienced hardship and deprivation in his life, it is easy to lose focus when money and fame come along.
Maybe Mcgregor's last great performance was the few seconds he fought and defeated Jose Aldo, but it seems to be the truth.
It's true he beat Nate Diaz and living legend Comboy Cerrone but both were not Conor's level of opponents, as Cerrone is on the downside of his career due to his age.
He lost against Khabib the fight he was supposed to win to increase his legacy and couldn't. Now he loses again to Dustin Porier in a trilogy in which the Irishman was dominated.
There are no excuses for Conor McGregor, his defeats are clear and convincing, before the fight against Dustin he spoke terrible things against Porier, his family and his wife, things that should not be said because it is something that is not to be trifled with. Although Conor with his style is capable of attracting people, in the moments of truth, he is left to do his duty.
If you saw the fight, it goes without saying that Dustin had won the round against Conor, who was clearly dizzy from the punches and elbows that Porier had given him.
Mcgregor is just days away from his birthday
33 to be exact and now he is facing a tough injury that will keep him away from the octagon for a while and he may never be the same again.
I don't want to make wood from the fallen tree as the saying goes, but the decline of Conor's career is right in front of us.
To answer my question, is Conor finished? Athletically he has very little left.
