It has been quite some time since I've last posted and a lot has happened since. Most critically for me, I lost my job due to the banking fiasco going on in the US. At first I wasn't immediately concerned and figured I'd be able to find something quick. However, as the days turned to weeks and weeks to months I started to spiral into a bout of depression and it became a chore for me to even get out of bed.
This period of joblessness however has finally come to an end and I have successfully ended my first week at my new job which has been enjoyable so far. I have a long way to go to dig back out of the financial hole I ended up in as a result of the past few months but I can now see the light. As part of this, I wanted to do something to celebrate which leads me to the ongoing Splinterlands DEC burning anniversary event.
Well, its essentially an attempt by the Splinterlands team to raise the price of DEC by burning some of the currently existing supply. In exchange the team is essentially holding a raffle with various prizes based on the amount of DEC you burn. You can see details on the official post from the Splinterlands team here. More importantly for me however this process of burning DEC also provides guild points which can be used to upgrade buildings and make my guild stronger.
To contribute to this event I opted to burn 10k of my DEC that I was saving. At the end of the day, it probably would have been more beneficial for me to pick up a few needed cards such as a Runemacer, Mordias or Queen Mycelia but I needed to do something to celebrate my situation and I do want to continue to support my guild. Although unlikely, I might come away with a riftwatcher pack too which would be really awesome.
