Hello Steemians,
In this post, I am going to talk about my visit to the paddy fields of Bali, Indonesia, back in July 2009.
A paddy field is a flooded parcel of land, used for cultivating semiaquatic rice (as shown in the following picture);
whereas deepwater rice is grown in parcels of land flooded with water more than than 50 centimeters (20 inches) deep (1) (as shown in the following picture);

It was a beautiful summer day when I visited the paddy fields, and although I got my shoes all soiled in the mud, the views rewarded me, and I enjoyed the exercise.
It was also the first time I actually saw a rice plant, although I had already savoured its seeds in so many different ways in my life. As a matter of fact, stir-fried rice is one of my favourite dishes, not to mention wild mushroom risotto, or chicken biryani.
Views of paddy fields
As we were roaming around the paddy fields, I asked the guide if there were snakes in the fields, and he told me of course there were snakes here. So I asked him, which was the most venomous snake to be seen here, and he said the cobra! I didn't expect cobras in Bali! It made such an impression on me, that I still remember it!
Beautiful countryside views
And that's all for today. I hope you liked my post, and that you will follow me to the next one.
So have a good day, and we'll speak again soon!

P.S.: Talking about rice dishes, how could I possibly forget the greek stuffed vine leaves? Unthinkable.
