I've been recently doing kind of an archival project of sorts that was asked of me from my old high school band director. We had a nationally award-winning band back in the day, and he had loaned out all of his copies of all of the video from the time and asked if I had it, and I didn't, and then I found it and started uploading this stuff to YouTube. Well, it got seen by some other friends of mine, and people started asking me about doing audio and video transfers from tape to digital, and this stuff has to be done in real time.
And so I had to value it as a professional, you know, for my time. And even though I was like having to deal with a couple of people who are like that I highly respect that have all of this material that really should be transferred. But anyway, the point of it is that I had a price.
I stated what it was without emotion, and I didn't end up getting these gigs, you know. Not that I really wanted them, but it was a real good test for me personally about like valuing what my time is actually worth, you know, and especially doing like things that just require your full attention. You can't really just step away and like let the audio go without looking at it the entire time.
But I thought it was a good lesson, and I hope that somebody else like could just like learn that, you know, your time is valuable. Honor yourself by saying exactly what you're worth and sticking to it without emotion. What do you think? I think this is perfect, and I agree wholeheartedly.
