Today I'm back with a new anime for you. Today's anime is really cool. This anime is called Daimon. This anime is written by Kadokawa and this anime was released on October 8, 2021 - March 25, 2022. This anime is a dark fantasy, supernatural thriller anime. I hope you like this anime.

Nagomu is a man who left his home in Kyoto and his family's confectionary shop when he became a musician. Upon hearing that his father has been hospitalized though, he comes back home to take over the family business. However, while he was gone, a young girl named Itsuka started working at the shop. The whereabouts of Itsuka's parents is unknown, and she has no other relatives, and Nagomu finds himself as foster parent for Itsuka. Itsuka, on the other hand, dislikes Nagomu for abandoning the family to become a musician. She proclaims that it will be her who will take over the shop one day instead of Nagomu. ![](

Third episode was a bridge too far. The writing already felt very hammy with characters straight up explicitly telling the MC to be a substitute father figure, but when the astronomically unlikely coincidences happened to bring MC, daughter, and MC's ex-girlfriend together, I said ENOUGH.
alt

Because of that episode and all that led to it, I feel justified in saying it's a poor derivative of a well worn trope done better way back with "Aishiteru ze Baby" or any number of other adoptive father stories.

Yes, and speaking of watching, I think the water colour visual style that they use periodically is just gorgeous. Brings some great atmosphere to the show. I also really like the attention to detail in the animation and drawing of the confections and all the processes (making, packaging, displaying, selling) surrounding them.

Is it worth watching?

Definitely worth checking out, although it helps to go in with appropriate expectations. I'd say that the writing is closer to day-time soap opera than it is to drama or top quality SoL (see below), and the male MC is a bit of a good hearted bumbling fool at times who gets treated rather poorly by the other adults.
alt

What do you think about it?

As for the above soap opera comment, there's just an awful lot of improbable coincidence, contrivance and convenient development/resolution, as well as a lot of "viewer fills in the gaps for characterisation" writing. I don't mind those in my isekais, my ecchi and my harem comedies, but I expect more out of drama and mature SoL.
alt

The show also has a few structural issues, with episode two feeling like it really should have come a bit later in the piece given we barely get a chance to meet the lead cast before we are diverted to an episode revolving around a side character that is essentially a standalone story.
alt

Overall I'm just not confident in the writing enough to trust where it's going and am have been increasingly disinterested in the characters and their issues as a result. That sounds a bit harsh, but it's more that the story is interesting enough for a casual watch, but makes me feel like it's not a particularly outstanding series as of yet.
