Have you ever found yourself in a tight spot in Splinterlands?

In this article, I'll share with you a strategy that allowed me to abuse Maneuvers rule of combat which effectively allowed me to survive until the fatigue rounds by using Uriel the Purifier as my tank which led me to win.

With a combination of smart positioning and strategic decisions, I was able to reduce the number of opponent's monsters to a point where Uriel could withstand the damage and secure my victory through fatigue damage. Find out how you can use this approach in your own games!

Uriel the Purifier

Stats | Grandmaster Rathe

^{𝔓𝔥𝔬𝔱𝔬 𝔣𝔯𝔬𝔪 𝔪𝔶 𝔖𝔭𝔩𝔦𝔫𝔱𝔢𝔯𝔩𝔞𝔫𝔡𝔰 𝔞𝔠𝔠𝔬𝔲𝔫𝔱.}

Grandmaster Rathe is a Legendary summoner from the Chaos Legion Series.

Level 4 Legendary summoners allow the use of:
Level 4 Legendary monsters;
Level 6 Epic monsters;
Level 8 Rare monsters;
Level 10 Common monsters.

As a legendary summoner, Grandmaster Rathe is efficient if your cards are only Silver level. Otherwise, it may be expensive to either buy or rent. In terms of stats though, the abilities he has are really good. The Void Armor ability is a game changing ability as it directly counters your opponent's magic damage, especially if that monster has Life Leech.

+1 Armor. [Stat Modifier] [Positive Status] All friendly monsters has their armor increased by 1.

This ability is in combo with Grandmaster Rathe's second skill. This ability is like a mini version of Protect ability.

Void Armor. [Defense] Monsters with Void Armor ability can use their armor to block opponent's magic damage.

One of the best abilities in the game. It gives your monsters the needed defense against magic damage giving you the advantage on each game.

Amplify. [Damage Modifier] Increase the damage of ay Thorns, Magic Reflect and Return Fire abilities.

Honestly, I don't use this ability a lot but Life Splinter has a lot of monsters that can benefit from this. One example is Pelacor Conjurer's Magic Reflect ability and can increase the damage your opponent receive from that by 1.

Uriel the Purifier is actually really good especially on rules of combat that has high health like Equalizer rule of combat. That Recharge attack, on its own, gives you 12 damage when it hits and can one-shot a lot of monsters in the game.

Abilities

---

At level 1, Flying is unlocked. [Defense] Non Flying monsters that attack this card has their maximum hit chance reduced by 25% during that attack.

Flying ability is actually really good as it directly affects the max hit/miss chance. Even if your opponent has more speed than him, due to Flying ability, there's always a 25% chance your opponent would miss.

At level 1, Recharge is unlocked. [Attack Modifier] [Damage Modifier] When this monster does not have a Recharged Status, it skips his attack this turn and gains Recharged status. When this monster has Recharged status, its next attack will be 3x the damage.

Like I mentioned, the Recharge ability is actually really strong when it hit. It would be frustrating when it doesn't since you can only attack once every other turn.

At level 2, Heal is unlocked. [Support] At the start of this monster's turn, restore the its health by 1/3 of its max health.

While he waits to attack, the good thing is that he has the Heal ability to restore any damage he gets. Due to his 12 base health, he gets to heal 4 damage per round, which is actually good.

At level 4, Redemption is unlocked. [Defense] [Damage] If this monster dies, all opponent's monster will take 1 damage.

I think this ability was put for the lore as it really doesn't make a lot of sense since this ability was normally put on monsters that has low health whose main goal is to die.

Grandmaster Rathe: Grandmaster Rathe may not be that effective in this battle since Xenith Monk doesn't have any base armor but an extra armor still would help.

1. Xenith Monk: I put him in the 1st position in order to make Uriel the Purifier attack from a very safe distance.
2. Uriel the Purifier: With the Reach ability from Maneuvers, he can now attack from a safer distance as he charges his attack every other round.
3. Dumacke Exile: Dumacke Exile is a good monster for Grandmaster Rathe as he has armor that would benefit from Void Armor ability.
4. Uraeus: Another Sneak monster that benefits from Grandmaster Rathe's Void Armor ability.

ᗪIᗪ YOᑌᖇ ᔕTᖇᗩTEGY ᗯOᖇKEᗪ?

Yes. My team was able to reduce the number of opponent's monsters on the board until it gets to the point that Uriel the Purifier can withstand the damage allowing me to survive the Fatigue rounds.

ᗯᕼᗩT ᗯIᒪᒪ YOᑌ TᖇY ᗪIᖴᖴEᖇEᑎTᒪY ᑎE᙭T TIᗰE?

You can use Quora Towershead and Earth Splinters instead and place her in the 2nd position. This gives Quora Towershead a safe option to farm Bloodlust stacks which would probably be a safer option than what I did with Uriel the Purifier.

Grandmaster Rathe and Uriel the Purifier in Maneuvers Rules of Combat

Yes. It opens up new strategies that you can use in your games. In this game, if I had my Uriel the Purifier as my tank, it probably died sometime earlier which means I would surely lose in the Fatigue rounds and lose the game.
