Leveling cards in Splinterlands is a very important game mechanic that you need to learn to win more games. You can do this in a variety of ways through playing the game, joining contests or even just buying them with from shop or other players.
The more cards of the same kind you have, the stronger that card can become. The stronger the cards you have, the easier you can win your battles to get to the leaderboard and earn some DEC.
In this article, I will give you step by step tutorial on how to level up your cards and some tips regarding leveling up your cards. If you play Splinterlands, this is one article you don't want to miss.
Leveling up cards just take a few steps to complete. Here's the step by step instruction on how to level up the cards:
If you want to sort them to those you own, not rented or starter cards, click on the "Playable" drop down and select "Owned."
The card you are trying to level up is not included in the count. For example, if you want to level up a level 1 Luceheim Demon to Level 2, you need a total of 5 cards. 1 for the card to level up and 4 for the cards to combine to that card.
There's no redos. Once you authorize it to combine, this will be permanent.
You can combine cards even if it will not level up the card. For example, this new Level 3 Luceheim Demon, if I have 3 new cards, I can combine it to that and it would push the 1/15 on max level to 4/15 but there will be no stats or ability change on it. It is much better to wait until you have the cards required to level them up than to combine them preemptively.
This is the step by step way to level up your cards in Splinterlands.
The main goal of leveling up cards is to increas stats and gain new abilities. Example, Luceheim demon gains Cleanse ability from leveling up from level 2 to level 3. The higher the level of your monsters, the higher the chance they can live during that combat and help you win.
Leveling up summoners are different, on the other hand. The reason you level up summoners is so that you can use the level of your monsters. Let's say you have a level 10 common monster but you only have a level 1 summoner. Even if you own the monster, during that combat, you can only use its level 1 because that is only what your summoner can handle.
Personally, I level up whom I think is strong and cheap. Usually, these cards are on Chaos Legion set because of their abundance but remember that on the next rotation, Chaos Legion set will be out of the loop for the Modern Ranked Format and you can use those cards only in battles except Modern Ranked Format.
For example, if I have a level 4 legendary Djinn Oshannus, it requires me a level 8 rare Kelya Frendul so I can use Djinn Oshannus at its max level. If my Kelya Frendul is at level 3, even if I have a level 4 Djinn Oshannus, I can only use the level 2 power of Djinn Oshannus since Level 2 Legendaries are the maximum level a Level 3 Rare Summoner can handle.
Technically, the more money you put into the game, the more extra cards you can get to level up the cards. It is that simple.
However, if you are looking for "Free" extra cards you can use to level up your collection, there are actually multiple ways to do it.
To summarize everything, improving your Splinterlands deck starts with leveling up your cards, a mechanics that can increase your card's stats and unlocks new abilities.
When you are leveling up your cards, prioritizing summoners should be prioritized since their levels limits how powerful your monsters can be during battles. Combining duplicated cards not only strengthens your deck but also gives you an edge in competitive play.
Lastly, focus on upgrading monsters with valuable and strong abilities or those you frequently use in your matches. Whether you acquire cards through battles, contests or purchases, learning the leveling process is key to staying competitive. By doing so, you'll be better equipped to climb the leaderboard and have an easier time when trying to gain rating.
