Hi peeps !
So first of all I want to wish everyone from the Muslim community a blessed Ramadan !
I'll be giving a brief insight into this special tradition :
Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. During the whole month, observers of Islam fast from sunrise to sunset. During the fast, no food or drink is consumed, and thoughts must be kept pure. Followers of Islam believe that fasting teaches patience, modesty, and spirituality. Meals are served before sunrise, called suhoor, and after sunset, called iftar, and eaten with family or with the local community.
So when it comes to mind, it's definitely a challenge, but by eating the right things on the right time, you can stay healthy while doing it. At the top of the list: foods that hydrate and don’t take long to make, such as soups, because the fast also prohibits the intake of any liquids. Spicy dishes such as curries are avoided, since they bring on thirst.
I read a couple of articles stating that it's has a bad influence on your health, that it can affect your sleeping pattern, how happy you are feeling, ... But it really depends on how good you eat and hydrate during the periods that are allowed !
