I did it. I cashed the bonds that I had (which were probably making 1% interest in average) and invested in some bitcoin, ether, and litecoin all through Coinbase. The value dipped a tiny bit right away, but then held steady for a day or so. And then...
Everything dropped. Like, a $500 drop in value in Bitcoin. I would have inserted a graphic, but apparently I can't do that on Android.
I bought into crypto anticipating a drop, but I didn't know when. I wish I had waited just a week or two before buying in so I could better catch a swing trade if I wanted to. But, like most of my stock portfolio (really mutual funds), I'm going to use the "buy and hold" strategy.
Swing traders might scoff at this, but it's a valid strategy. Frankly, I'd like to swing trade, too. I could use a few extra bucks each month! Regardless, buying and holding should work just fine, especially considering that I'm not destitute.
I must say that I pity those who get scared when a stock or a cryptocurrency see a huge drop. Like in 2008, many people pulled their money out of the stock market. That very next year, stocks recovered. 2008 was the time to buy in, not pull out. This is why I keep buying in when I see these large drops. It's not a lot of money invested, but I look forward to seeing what happens.
To conclude, I'm no expert, but buying low is the way to go. So buy now.
