We were on our way to Las Vegas and had decided to make a stop over at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area which is only 40 km west of the Las Vegas Strip the cost of entering this red rock canyon was $15 US per/car and $5 US per/person the area of red rock canyon encompasses just under 200,000 acres of natural beauty most tourist are not only attracted here for the rock climbing , mountain biking, camping or wildlife viewing but also because of in the way these mountains change color to a fiery red look as the sun rays shine on these huge rocks which are mainly made up of iron , thus been called "Red Rock Canyon".

We eventually stop at a viewpoint called Keystone Thrust we parked the 4WD , there are many spots along this scenic drive that you can just park your car hope out and go for a little hike as what we did this trail was less then 2 km and it was going to lead us over to the other side of this huge red cliff mountain at a higher level so we could not only see the depth of the canyon but also catch the sunset at this point on this mountain we were about 915 meters ( 3,000 feet ) above sea level a awesome viewing point of the canyon.

Walking along this trail was absolutely breath taking the variousness of sand , stone , river bed and vegetation was almost other worldly when you see red caves in smooth stone was like out of Star Wars and making it to this view point of this mountain was just again like looking across the red planet Mars we were awestruck with the beauty of this place. Definitely a hikers paradise your choice of trails , your level of difficulty.
