It's Friday the 13th today, being on October is a litttle bit unnerving for supertitious kind. But why? What is the origin of this date to make it be so unlucky? Almost half of the population including around 49 million Brits are afraid of Friday the 13th, thinking that bad things will happen on this day. Fear of Friday 13th even has its own name - Paraskevidekatriaphobia, try saying this three times fast. There are a number of origins of the day and it's association with all things unlucky. Christianity thought that because Jesus Christ was crucified on a Friday and that Judas was his 13th guest at the last supper. Another is Norse Mythology, the free-spirited goddess Frigga was a witch and banished when tribes converted to christianity. Legend says that every Friday the goddess had assembled the devil and her 11 witches including her own self, which made 13, did evil deeds. Another is that King Philip IV of France made hundreds of Templar Nights to be arrested in this very day. No matter what the superstition on this date, negativity always follows. Twelve is associated with so many this like, clocks and months in a year, 12 Gods of Olympus, But you need 13 to form a convent for witches. But whatever the case 13 is and probably will be considered an unlucky number until the end of times. To me, it's just another day, yeah bad stuff happens on this day, but I think it's just a touch of superstitions that make us more prone to realizing what is actually happening.
