Description:
Jezero Crater is a 45 km diameter impact basin in Mars' northern hemisphere, site of the Perseverance rover landing in 2021.

Formed 3.5 billion years ago, it once hosted a lake and river delta, with fan-shaped deposits rich in clays and carbonates. The crater floor and walls preserve evidence of ancient water and potential biosignatures.

How I Got My Name:
Named after Jezero, a town in Bosnia and Herzegovina, following IAU theme of Earth place names for Martian craters.

Interesting Fact:
Perseverance collects samples for Earth return; delta sediments indicate habitable environments, with the rover discovering organic compounds and igneous rocks, advancing search for past life on Mars.
